Why do we need to relax?
Relaxation is one of the most effective self-help actions we can take to promote good mental and physical health. It can be a useful addition to any other form of treatment and it can be an effective measure to prevent the development of stress and anxiety.
Why is relaxation so important?
Being relaxed is our natural state – but not always our normal one. Excessive stress can cause problems both mentally and physically including headaches, depression, insomnia, anxiety, even increased blood pressure. Being able to relax and doing so at regular intervals helps to alleviate and even prevent the above problems. It enables you to feel better, more able to cope with things and more resilient.
Will it be easy to relax?
There are many different relaxation techniques and we will use the best ones for you. Even if you find relaxation difficult, techniques like self-hypnosis will make it much easier to attain a state of calm relaxation at will. As you build some relaxation into your life, you will experience the benefits and balance this brings.
What other steps do I need to take?
Sometimes, reducing your level of stress means looking at your life as a whole including your diet, exercise, job, attitudes and beliefs and overall lifestyle. Changes here will support a relaxed and calmer you.
